RESULTS OF OFSTED VISIT

The Ofsted inspection report will be with us before the end of next week and will be circulated to parents as soon as we receive it.

TEACHING ASSISTANT VACANCY

We have a further TA vacancy, this time for seven hours per week working across Tues, Weds and Thurs afternoons.  The grade will be at Hay 8 (£11.4664 per hour) pay award pending.  The post involves covering one class in each year group once a week and co‑ordinating planning sessions with our current PPA cover teaching assistants.

Note for applicants of other recently advertised TA posts: If you wish your application to be put forward for this post, please contact the school office.

CLASS 4 ARRANGEMENTS

Mr Hearn will be leaving Class 4 on Friday, 11th July and the class will be taken by Mr Erné until the end of term.  I should like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to him for his hard work and dedication to the class and the school during his time with us.

Our reports will be going out a little later than usual due to the Ofsted visit.  We hope to have Mr Hearn’s reports out early next week and, should you wish to discuss anything in the reports with Mr Hearn, he will be available from 3.30‑5.00 pm on Thursday, 10th July to see parents.  Please see Mr Hearn to arrange an appointment.

REMINDER – Return of resources

This is the time of year when we need to collect in our resources and ensure all are accounted for and in good condition so that we can replace or order new where needed. We will, therefore, not be setting homework after 11th July.  Please bring in any reading/library books and maths packs you have at home by Friday 11th July.  Many thanks for your support with this.

CLASS REPORTS

Reports for all the remaining classes we hope to have ready early the following week.  Should you wish to discuss anything in the reports, teachers will be available at the following times.  Please see your child’s class teacher to arrange an appointment.  If you are happy with your child’s report there is no need to see the teacher.

FRUIT TUCK

This is still available on a daily basis and some children use the service regularly.  However, it would be very good if more Year 1 and 2 children accessed the service as, if demand does not increase, it may not continue.  The price of a dish of prepared fruit is 15p which should be brought into school each day.

CLASS PHOTOS

You should all have received the proof of your child’s class photo.  All orders must be returned to school by Friday, 11th July.

SUNCREAM / HATS

I should just like to remind parents that our children spend a great deal of time outside and suncream needs to be applied before they come to school.  Please ensure your child also has a named sunhat with them.

YEAR 2 ACTIVITIES

We do hope that the children enjoyed their cookery and dance activities Thursday morning.  We were delighted to be able to give the remainder of the children in the year who did not attend the Ethical Expo the opportunity to work with the Bordeaux Quay cookery school.

Also, a huge thank you to Mrs Jen Cusack (parent of Jack in Year R for the superb dance workshops she held for Year 2.  Parents of Year 2 children will be able to see some of the highlights from the workshop at the Year 2 leavers’ service on Tuesday, 22 July at 9.30 am in the School Hall.

On Monday, 14th July Year 2 pupils will be taking part in the Hanham Fun Run along with Hanham Abbots and Christchurch pupils on Hanham High field.  The first run begins at 1.30 pm.  The main aim of this event is to be physical and have fun.  Fancy dress or three-legged running is fine.  If children wish to be competitive this is also allowed.  Parents are welcome to watch and should enter the field via Hanham Abbots main entrance.

YEAR R ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS

Thank you everyone for persevering this week with the new arrangements for accessing the Year R classrooms.  Everything should improve next week when our new caretaker starts full time and the gate between the infant and junior playground will be open every day.  Please do bear with us. We will review the situation in the near future and seek parental input.

MOVE UP DAY

This seemed to go well for all the children and everyone seemed to have a successful day.

FLOWERS

We are still lacking flowers for the school planters.  If you have any plants to spare, please bring them into school as soon as possible.

BRING AND BUY / FILM NIGHT

Thank you to everyone for supporting these events and to the PA for their organisation.

BREAKFAST CLUB / AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

A questionnaire will be with you over the next few days to enable us to gather information to see if there is a need for these clubs and how we may be able to offer this facility.

To receive a realistic overview it is essential that parents do respond to the questionnaire.
